Going by the exit polls Goa is likely to be a hung Assembly as no party seems to be getting full majority.
The Exit Polls carried out by various research agencies have predicted astonishing results for Goa Assembly Elections 2017. Laxmikant Paresekar led-Bharatiya Janata Party has been put on top, while Congress is kept closely at the second spot, and Aam Admi Party a distant third. Going by the exit polls Goa is likely to be a hung Assembly as no party seems to be getting full majority. The figures predicted by C-voter exit poll have given BJP to bag 15-21(agg.18) seats in Goa, while the Congress is getting 12-18 (15) seats, and AAP may open it account with 0-4 seats. The figures predicted by India Today-Axis and India TV are also similar with BJP winning 15 seats. All the figures suggest that no party in Goa is getting a clear majority. However, BJP with support of “others” may form government.

A total of 21 seats are required in the state to form government. While if we go by all the polls, BJP is winning at least 15 seats, i.e. 6 short of majority. Others may have a big role to play here. The polls have predicted 6-8 seats for other players. Getting these remaining six, or even an outside support, will be very difficult. This is so because the remaining seats are likely to be won by the RSS-faction Goa Suraksha Manch, that is in alliance with the MGP, which have anyway fought elections by opposing the BJP. Now here is the twist, while MGP has re-merged with Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh, the MGP may not be interested to form alliance with BJP. Still, the possibilities of a negotiation can’t be ruled out. Let’s wait for the result day.
